Yesterday one of the foremost search engine platforms and information repository, Google, put out the most popular keywords across different categories in its annual report of top trending searches. They have been consistently releasing their trend reports since 2016.
In the Google report they regarded 2020 as the year where a lot of questioning was done according to search engines. In their introductory words, “2020 was the year we asked “why?”” They noted as well that Black Lives Matter was searched worldwide for the first time and this made a five-fold increase compared to the year 2019.
It is also notable that a lot of Recipes were looked up as well as “what day is it” was asked a lot, insomnia and mediation, how to be a teacher search spiked as well. The covid-19 pandemic was the major cause of many citizens being locked-down hence the use of internet increased. This year has posed to be one of the most historic for this reason in the past decade and it has reflected in search engine statistics.
The Categories included: Top Searched People including Actors, Athletes, musicians, lyrics, and politicians etc. Loss, How to make, How to Donate, Why, Where to buy among others. Google’s trend searches has showed thew pattern of information that stayed atop readers’ interests in such a stressful year. These stats are also useful generally, for creating business plans with apt information and guide on basic human interests.
